Flooring Installers for Laminates
Practical laminate floors are a breeze to maintain
If your flooring is worn, damaged, or just plain ugly, there are a variety a new materials that are beautiful, easy to maintain, and won´t leave you destitute. One of the most popular is laminate flooring.
Laminate flooring is made of a wood composite base that is glued to a top layer of plastic laminate. The surface is a highly detailed photographic image that resembles traditional flooring material such as wood, tile or stone. Laminate flooring is available in either planks or squares. Originally from Europe, it has recently become popular in the United States as a relatively inexpensive, attractive flooring choice.
Laminate flooring is stainproof and resistant to fading. It does not require waxing, which makes it easy to clean and maintain. It is one of the most affordable flooring materials and is available in a range of styles. Warranties usually range from 10–25 years depending on the manufacturer and grade.
It is best used wherever you would install a wood floor: living areas, hallways, and bedrooms are the most practical. While it´s certainly easy to install in kitchens and baths, it´s not recommended. Water or moisture from bathroom fixtures or even a dishwasher on the fritz can destroy a laminate floor pretty quickly.
About installation
Laminate flooring is laid over the subfloor without being attached to it. It can also be laid over wood, tile or vinyl floor surfaces. Sections of the laminate flooring are secured together with adhesive to create
a large, overlaying surface that rests on the subfloor. Sometimes a thin foam pad is placed between the subfloor and laminate flooring to create a resilient cushion and provide moisture protection for the subfloor. Many people choose to install the flooring themselves, but for a fast, easy installation it often pays to hire a professional.
